With a fresh dump of snow, mild winter temperatures and holiday time off for many, it's a perfect time to enjoy winter in Minnesota!
The largest regional park in Minneapolis, Theodore Wirth Park on the western edge of Minneapolis bordering Golden Valley, becomes a winter wonderland at this time of year and a great winter destination for all ages.
The Wirth Winter Recreation Area includes tubing, snowboarding, 25 kilmeters of cross country ski trails...even snowshoe trails and rentals for a quiet hike through the woods on the expansive 759 acres of the park.
Check in at the Swiss-styled chalet at 1339 Theodore Wirth Parkway for equipment rental, lessons, and passes...as well for a warm-up and a stop at the snack bar. The nearby tubing hill is lighted, groomed and features a tow rope. Tube rental is required, and day passes are $8 for children 4-17 and $12 for adults 18 and over.

I've lived in Minneapolis for 50+ years. don't really "like" the snow, but I still like to see it when it is fresh. This holiday weekend snow was more like "slush", and really hard to shovel.
