Too Much Stuff

For some reason, ridding ourselves of clutter, both physical and emotional, is one very interesting topic.  I am speaking at a women's conference tomorrow (Stumbling Blocks to Stepping Stones), and one of the day's topics is Creating More Time for the Things that Matter.  It's proving to be one of the most popular break-out sessions!

Why are we so obsessed with keeping our clutter?  Why can't we just face facts that we don't need it and just get rid of it?  Why are we so attached to our "stuff?"  If you are a pack-rat like some of us,  you've been wondering about this for a long time!  Changing your perspective about your "stuff" can be a step in the right direction. 

• Why do you have it?  "Well, I just might need it some day!"  Wouldn't it be better to give it away to someone who could use it today?

• Why do you keep it?  "It has so many memories for me!"  If it's the memories that count, take a photo of it; keep the photo and give away the "stuff."

• How does it get in the way?  "I would entertain more, but everything is such a mess!"  You can either clear things out and have some fun entertaining, or keep the clutter and wallow in your misery.  Better yet, schedule a party - that will give you a deadline for getting things done. 

The Holidays are right around the corner - wouldn't you like to be having more fun?  Spread some cheer by giving away your "stuff," or make a little extra cash by selling it!  What are you waiting for?  Just do it!
