Sometimes it's easy to overlook the obvious. I wonder what took me so long to use La Casita as a Sunday Site...it has been our favorite restaurant for years, one which regularly finds us traveling across the metro because it isn't close to where we live.
When we lived in Fargo, ND about 30 years ago our favorite restaurant was Mexican Village, where we had family dinner every Sunday. When we moved to the Twin Cities I vaguely remember hearing that La Casita was somehow connected...owned by a family connection, used some of the same recipes...not sure if that is accurate or not, but La Casita felt very familiar and we adopted it as our new favorite Mexican restaurant.
Although we don't stop as regularly as we might like because we must travel across town to get there, we frequently think of reasons to get a 'La Casita fix'. Its unassuming location on Central Avenue just south of I-694 on the Columbia Heights-Fridley border has easy access, but isn't the kind of walkable setting that often draws us to neighborhood restaurants...we come here strictly for the food! They now also have a Roseville location... unfortunately, not any closer for us but it may be for you!
